This tear-jerking video for Pride in London reminds us why Pride is still so important

We’ve come a long way. But there’s still a long way to go.
That’s the message of a moving new campaign video from Pride in London, released two weeks ahead of this year’s march in the capital on Saturday July 7.
The stunning short film, which is set to air nationally during Hollyoaks at 6.45pm tonight on Channel 4 (June 21), highlights the everyday struggles – and resilience – which still characterise the LGBT+ experience.
Featuring an all-LGBT+ cast – including the UK’s highest ranking transgender soldier, Hannah Winterbourne, and her activist husband Jake Graf – the tear-jerking video sees LGBT+ people deal with everything from homphobic abuse to violent hate crime as they sing a haunting rendition of The Wizard of Oz’s ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’.
Pride in London reminded people of the sad fact that half of Londoners have been a victim of hate crime as they unveiled the video on Thursday (June 21).
“We’ve come a long way, but there’s a way to go”, organisers wrote on Twitter. “#PrideMatters as much as it ever has done.”
