Paloma Faith has been announced as the first headliner for Brighton Pride festival 2022.

The double platinum and BRIT Award-winning singer will take to the stage in Brighton’s Preston Park on Sunday 7 August for the We Are Fabuloso festival, which takes place over the weekend of 5-7 August. (Tickets are already on sale here).

As the UK’s biggest Pride festival returns for the first time since 2019 following two years of pandemic-related postponements, Paloma’s larger-than-life personality and hit-filled back catalogue is sure to provide the perfect climax to a weekend of unbridled celebration in the Sussex seaside city.

With slew of chart smashes – including UK Top 10s ‘Only Love Can Hurt Like This’, ‘Changing’ with Sigma and ‘Lullaby’ with Sigala – Paloma continues Brighton Pride festival’s tradition of attracting some of the biggest names in music to publicly champion diversity and equality, with the Saturday headliner still yet to be announced.

Such is Paloma’s commitment to the queer cause, in 2020 the singer was the recipient of the Honorary Gay Award at the Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards, powered by Jaguar.

At the time, the former The Voice judge declared: “[The LGBTQ community] just feels like my community… When I hear homophobia, I take it personally. It feels like I’m defending myself.”

Speaking to Attitude on the red carpet before collecting the award, Paloma reflected on raising her children in an LGBTQ-inclusive environment and took aim at growing transphobia in the UK media.

“If my child was gay, or was a transgender child, I would embrace whatever they wanted, in the moment they wanted,” she stated.

Paloma went on: “We live in a culture where everyone’s got an opinion and thinks their opinion’s valid. Actually, the only person whose opinion is valid in the issue of transgender is the person who decides who they are and what their identity is, and that’s personal choice.

“I’m not actually interested in anybody else’s opinion, other than the individuals it involves.”

Attitude is proud to be a media partner for Brighton & Hove Pride 2022. Tickets are available here.
