Gary Lineker hosts Match of the Day in his pants – WATCH

By Will Stroude

It was back in December that Gary Lineker promised to host Match of the Day in his underwear if his beloved Leicester City won the Premier League, and the BBC football pundit finally made good on his promise on the first day of the new season this weekend.

The 55-year-old stripped down to a pair of Leicester City-branded boxers as he presented Match of the Day’s coverage on Saturday (August 13), giving viewers an eyeful as co-host Alan Shearer and Ian Wright looked on gleefully.

However, controversy struck as some viewers claimed they had been short-changed by Lineker’s choice of undergarment – controversy which the former footballer was quick to strike down.

“Had a few complaints saying I should’ve worn pants not boxers,” he tweeted. “My tweet said undies. Boxers are undies. That was embarrassing enough thanks.”

He added: “So glad pantsgate is all over. Aside from the embarrassment, speaking whilst breathing in is not easy.”
