DJ Fat Tony’s top 10 Pride dance anthems for summer 2020

Jean Paul Gaultier presents DJ Fat Tony at the Brighton Pride digital Warm-up Party, this Friday 31 July from 8-10pm on the Attitude YouTube channel.

By Will Stroude

Pride season might not be looking exactly how we imagined it six months ago, but with three days of digital celebrations to mark Brighton Pride this weekend, which can be streamed by anyone, anywhere on the globe, there are certainly silver linings to be enjoyed.

One such highlight coming this Friday (31 July) will be Jean Paul Gaultier presents DJ Fat Tony at the Brighton Pride digital warm-up party: a two-hour set of unadulterated floor-fillers to kickstart your weekend which will be broadast live on the Attitude YouTube channel from 8-10pm.

To get us all in the mood ahead of Friday’s event – which can be enjoyed from the comfort of your living room or as the soundtrack to a (socially-distanced) evening in the park during Friday’s expected heatwave, we asked DJ Fat Tony to share his top 10 Pride dance anthems for summer 2020.

As you’d expect from London’s pre-eminent superstar DJ, it’s wall-to-wall bangers. Break out the rainbow glitter and check ’em out below:

Copyright feat. Song Williamson – ‘He Is’ (Alaia & Gallo Extended Remix)

This one is from my family at Defected: an epic, driving house track. Close your eyes and think you’re in that main dance tent at Brighton’s Preston Park… Bliss.

Honey Dijon, Sebastian Manuel – ‘Mixologist’

Honey’s done it again with this track. Anyone who’s played with or listened to her know her energy is 2nd to none. This track is a great embodiment of that energy.

Frankie Knuckles feat. Jamie Principle – ‘Your Love’ (Director’s Cut)

I’ve been revisiting Frankie a fair bit lately – he truly is the godfather of house. This timeless classic has been part of some of my favourite sets over my career.

Jessie Ware – ‘Save A Kiss’ (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs)

From the British singer’s latest album, What’s Your Pleasure?, the ’80s Italy influences of the TEED remix elevate the track. One of my favourite new tracks of the moment.

Diplo & Sidepiece – ‘On My Mind’ (Purple Disco Machine Remix)

One of the tracks of the summer – you don’t get much more feel good than this one. I had a magical moment playing this on my Glitterbox Live set, with dancers virtually voguing right next to me. Incredible!

The Shapeshifters feat. Billy Porter – ‘Finally Ready’ (Club Mix)

This track is pure Pride. By my friends at Glitterbox Records and the supremely talented Billy Porter, we are witnessing a gay anthem in the making.

Mousse T, Tom Jones – ‘Sexbomb’ (Sound Of Life Dub Mix)

Mousse T’s version of this Tom Jones song is a winner: Relentless, happy, energetic.

Dirtydisco – ‘No Sunshine’ (Original Mix)

‘No Sunshine’ like you’ve never heard it before. I love what they’ve done with one of the biggest songs of all time.

Jean Jacque Smoothie feat. Tara Busch – ‘2People’ (Dr Packer Remix)

The perfect sunset track. Dr Packer rarely puts a foot wrong with his productions and this is testament to that. Let it transport you to your happy place.

George Michael – ‘Club Tropicana’

The 1983 classic has been a staple of my lockdown live sets. I played a secret remix of this countless times from my very own ‘Club Tropicana’ (my now infamous back garden) and honestly, what better way to end than with George. Love, love, love!
