Ariana Grande will headline Manchester Pride festival 2019, organisers have announced.

The ‘7 Rings’ singer will return to the city to celebrate LGBTQ equality two years after the terror attack outside her Manchester Arena show which killed 22 people.

Grande, who will perform a selection of songs from her Sweetener World Tour, will be the first act to headline the newly-rebranded Manchester Pride Live in its new indoor home at Mayfield on Sunday 25 August.

The live music festival, formerly known as The Big Weekend, has been relocated to the site of the disused railway depot close to Manchester Piccadilly Station after local property development plans forced the event to move from the city’s gay village.

Joining Grande on the bill are a host of acts including Years and Years, Bananarama, Becky Hill, Kim Petras, Liverty X, Pixie Lott and Louisa.

DJs including Basement Jaxx, Gok Wan, Jodie Harsh, Hercules and Love Affair, and Faithless will also perform sets over the course of the weekend of 23-26 August.
