Orville Peck drops double whammy with new single and Mule album release date

Alongside his new single, Peck has released a music video that is pure queer cowboy euphoria

Orville Peck has announced the release date for his upcoming album, Mule, dropping its lead single, ‘Too Little, Too Late’, alongside its official music video.

Mule marks Peck’s fourth studio album, following his debut, Pony, in 2019 and his most recent, duet-heavy album, Stampede, in 2024.

Unveiling his upcoming project on Instagram yesterday (23 July), Peck revealed the release date and set the tone for his next queer country record.

When is Mule by Orville Peck coming out?

“Mule – my fourth studio album – arrives 18 September 2026. This record is a chronological account of the year I lost my way,” wrote Peck.

Mule is available to pre-save now across all major streaming services – but that’s not all. Peck also gave fans a taste of his upcoming sound with the album’s lead single, ‘Too Little, Too Late’, which is available to stream now.

“‘Too Little, Too Late’ – the first single from my upcoming album, Mule – is out everywhere now! Go listen, go dance and go watch the all-new music video,” Peck announced on Instagram.

The visual was directed by Austin Peters, whose work includes the action superhero film The Phantom and the 2024 thriller Skincare, starring Elizabeth Banks.

The music video is set inside an American train carriage, inhabited by cowboy hat-wearing hotties, with Peck sporting his signature fringe mask.

Peck has recently been praised for leaving his former talent agency, Wasserman, after it was revealed that its founder, Casey Wasserman, appears in the Jeffrey Epstein files.

Peck stars as Vega in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter film

He joined the likes of Chappell Roan and indie rock band Wednesday in departing the agency, and has since signed with Semaphore Management.

2026 is set to be a monumental year for the country singer, as his latest acting role as Vega in the live-action Street Fighter film is set to debut in October.

The movie is scheduled for release in UK cinemas on 16 October 2026.
