Yungblud channels Geri Halliwell as he teases new single ‘Strawberry Lipstick’

And yes, the lyrics are a little fruity...

By Thomas Stichbury

Yungblud has given us a taste of his new single ‘Strawberry Lipstick’ – and we’re getting more than a whiff of euphemism.

Britain’s biggest pop-rocker doesn’t hold back on the fruity ditty, which is dedicated to a girl he has all the feels for.

But don’t go expecting a drippy ballad; this definitely ain’t no Westlife-rise-from-your-stool-at-the-key-change kinda number.

“This is a song about a person I love,” Yungblud, aka Dominic Harrison, screams, banshee-like, in the intro, followed by an explosion of angry guitar riffs.

The singer – who used to date American chart-topper Halsey – lets rip about a relationship that is passionate, volatile and probably a little toxic.

“She’s got my heart in her hands like a headlock/I can’t see straight, ten seconds past five o’clock,” he sings.

The track continues: “She holds all the power in her fingertips/She’s gonna suck on my strawberry lipstick/She’s gonna taste my body with her fingertips/ I cannot breathe.”

Answers on a postcard, please, as to what you think this lipstick could possibly be a metaphor for…

In a teaser video for the song, spiky-haired Yungblud, 22, is seen wearing a Union Jack dress (very Geri-at-the-Brits-1997), setting fire to a straightjacket, as you do.

Last month, the punk star showed his rainbow stripes as an LGBTQ ally when he kicked off Attitude Pride at Home’s Opening Party, in partnership with Klarna.

Yungblud’s new single ‘Strawberry Lipstick’ is out Thursday.
