Will Young is the latest celebrity to join CBeebies Bedtime Stories and will read a story about same-sex parents to celebrate LGBT History Month.

The ‘Leave Right Now’ singer is set to read Carolyn Robertson’s children’s book ‘Two Dads’ which tells the story of a boy who has been adopted and finds himself being raised by two fathers.

In a statement, Young – who recently hit back at The Grand Tour and its presenters for homophobia – said: “Children’s books are one of the first ways we learn about the world around us, so I’m overjoyed to be reading a story to mark LGBT History Month.”

More so than ever, families in all forms should be recognised and celebrated – whether that’s two dads, two mums, families with a mum and dad, those with a single parent, adoptive families and so on.

“I’ve never been more sure that inclusivity starts from the youngest possible age. I hope these stories will be used for years to come.”

Along with friend Chris Sweeney, Young also hosts the populay LGBT+ podcast Homo Sapiens and series three of the podcast is out now.

Homo Sapiens interviews LGBT names including Jeremy Corbyn, Troye Sivan, Owen Jones, Clare Balding and more, they’ve also done episodes about Chemsex, PrEP and LGBT life in rural Britain.

This series they travel across America to meet queer voices and explore their experiences, particularly under Donald Trump’s administration.

‘Two Dads’ – which was illustrated by Sophie Humphreys – will be read by the singer next week.
