Watch YouTube star Connor Franta come out as gay

By Sam Rigby

YouTube star Connor Franta has come out as gay in one of his videos.

In the clip, the 22-year-old – who has over 3.5 million subscribers – explains how he has now opened up about his sexuality with family and friends, as he was “sick of censoring” himself.

Franta’s video has already been viewed more than 1 million times after being posted 15 hours ago.

He says in the video: “I just want to be able to be me and not be afraid. I’m sick of censoring myself. This is just one little part of who I am, and I’m not gonna let my sexuality define or confine me. It’s part of me, it’s not all of me.”

“I’m making this video for anyone who needs it,” he adds. “It’s OK. It may not seem like it right now, but you are gonna be fine. I know it’s scary, but don’t be afraid. You are who you are, and you should love that person. I don’t want anyone to have to go through 22 years of their life afraid to accept that.”

Franta also admits to suffering from depression during his high school years, as he struggled to come to terms with his sexuality.
