Katy Perry brought fireworks to US President Joe Biden’s inauguration celebration yesterday – literally.

The star sang her signature song ‘Firework’ to close the show, watched by Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and their families.

Backed by the Washington Monument – and an utterly spectacular firework display, naturally – Orlando Bloom’s wife delivered a pretty faultless performance, if you ask us.

“Sparkling”

The Biden-Harris team furthermore called the rendition “sparkling” on Twitter.

The new mum’s epic moment followed an momentous turn from Lady Gaga earlier that day, after she sang US national anthem ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ just yards away from former Vice President Mike Pence…

Yesterday wasn’t solely about celebrating either: in one of his first actions as President, Biden signed the ‘Executive Order on Preventing and Combating Discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity or Sexual Orientation’.

The order has been called “the most substantive, wide-ranging LGBTQ executive order in US history” by the Human Rights Campaign.

Now that’s what you call a good start!
