By Josh Haggis

The first trailer for the Scream TV series adaptation has debuted online.

The highly anticipated show, which is based on the iconic horror film series, follows the aftermath of a deadly cyber-bullying incident that connects a group of high school students to a spree of gruesome murders that appear to have been inspired by a copycat.

Wes Craven, who helmed all four films in the critically acclaimed horror franchise, is on board to direct the series, which is set to debut on MTV on June 5.

The original film franchise starred Courteney Cox, Neve Campbell and David Arquette and has grossed over $600 million worldwide since 1996, with the latest sequel hitting cinemas back in 2011.
