By Will Stroude

Carmen Carrera will become the first transgender person to wed on reality television after tying the knot long-term partner Adrian Torres.

The couple tied the knot back in June this year, but Carrera has now shared some exclusive snaps of the big day with People magazine ahead of the ceremony’s broadcast on the season finale of VH1’s Couples Therapy tomorrow night (December 9).

“This wedding has given us a sense of freedom to be proud of what we have and who we are,” says Carrera, who appeared on the the third season of RuPaul’s Drag Race before her transition, and has since turned her hand to modelling.

“Celebrating our love and what we call our ‘modern, modern family,’ lets us know that we belong here and that we also have a place to raise a family of our own on our terms. We feel truly blessed.”

Carrera and Torres originally got together almost a decade ago, and entered a domestic partnership in 2009 before briefly separating in 2015. The couple have since documented their attempts to rebuild their relationship on the latest season of the VH1 show.

“Adrian has been there for me through so many important moments in my life and our love has forever kept us together,” says Carrera. “We realize we are so lucky to have found one another. He has shown me that unconditional love transcends gender and the exterior appearance.”
