UK Eurovision entry Joe and Jake land record deal with Sony Music

By Will Stroude

This year’s UK Eurovision entry Joe and Jake have been given a reassuring show of confidence after landing a record deal with Sony Music.

The musical duo, who were selected by the public to represent the UK in Stockholm, will perform their track ‘You’re Not Alone’ – out today in the UK – to an estimated 180 million viewers during May’s Grand Final, and will be hoping to better the dismal performance of last year’s boy-girl pair Electric Velvet.

Before embarking on their Eurovision journey, Joe and Jake both auditioned separately for the fourth series of The Voice in 2015, where they went on to be mentored by Rita Ora and Will.i.am respectively before teaming up after the show’s run.

“We are so excited to be signed by Sony!” the boys said in a statement. “This whole experience has been a dream come true and we cannot wait to hit the stage at Eurovision. ‘You’re Not Alone’ is a song that means so much to us.

“Representing our nation is an absolute honour and we really want to make the UK proud”.

Managing Director of Sony Music Commercial Group Phil Savill added: “Joe and Jake are a fantastically talented pair of artists and ‘You’re Not Alone’ is an outstanding song, its no surprise that they were chosen to represent the UK with this track in Stockholm.

“We are delighted to be working with the guys on making this year’s UK Eurovision entry a huge International hit and launching the careers of this amazing act!”

Joe and Jake’s ‘You’re Not Alone’ is out now on Sony Music. You can watch Joe and Jake perform at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 on 14 May on BBC One.
