Tom Daley has broken a ‘canyon swinging’ record as part of his new ITV2 series.

The diver visited New Zealand as part of Tom Daley Goes Global, and performed a terrifying jump from a the top of a 357ft high cliff.

Tom was required to perform as many somersaults during the jump as possible, in an attempt to break the world record previously set by Swedish gymnast, the Daily Star reports.

He beat the record after completing twelve somersaults during the plummet.

Speaking about breaking the swinging record, Tom said: “That was insane but I’m now a record holder. I find anything dangerous fun.”

Tom and his best friend Sophie also visited Japan, Thailand, Australia and Morocco as part of their trip.

Meanwhile, he recently announced that he will open his own diving academy in London in a bid to find the next generation of talented British divers.
