‘The Walking Dead’ to introduce new gay character

TVLine has learned that the US zombie drama will add a new gay male to the cast, but further details are being kept under wraps.
It is thought that the new character will feature in the upcoming fifth season of the show, but this has not yet been confirmed.
Showrunner Scott M. Gimple confirmed the introduction of the new gay character while discussing the sexuality of an existing character on the show, Daryl Dixon. The Walking Dead‘s creator, Robert Kirkman, sparked speculation about Dixon’s sexuality recently when he said that the character could be gay – read more here.
Gimple said of Dixon: “This is a character who is going to continue to grow closer to the other characters, [and] let his guard down, and let them see just who he is, in every way.”
However, he added that Dixon’s sexuality “is not really addressed” in the upcoming season.
The new season of The Walking Dead will premiere on US network AMC on Sunday, October 12. The new season will begin in the UK on FOX a day later.
