‘The Hunger Games’ stage adaptation in the works

A stage version of The Hunger Games film franchise is in development, it has been announced.
The show is set to debut at a purpose-built theatre located next to London’s Wembley Stadium in 2016, reports the Associated Press.
According to Lionsgate, the makers of the hugely popular Hunger Games films, the live show will feature a wealth of “innovative and immersive staging techniques”. It will be directed by Tony Award winner Robin de Levita.
“I’m thrilled to be partnering with an innovative next-generation studio like Lionsgate on a property that resonates so deeply with global audiences,” said Levita. “The theatre is a fantastic medium to bring the many meaningful layers of Suzanne Collins’ writing to life.”
The two big screen adaptations of The Hunger Games novels have collectively taken over $1.5bn (£946m) at the box office worldwide, with the latest instalment, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, set to be released in UK cinemas on November 20.
