Taron Egerton gave the audience at The Hove County Ground in East Sussex double the dose of Elton John on Sunday night (9 June) as the Rocketman star joined the musical icon for a special surprise performance of ‘Your Song’.

The 29-year-old actor, who recorded his own versions of Elton’s iconic hits for the acclaimed movie biopic, donned a rainbow Pride shirt and Elton-style specs as he joined the singer on the latest stop of his three-year-long ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour’.

Elton, who has announced his intention to retire from touring when the run of shows comes to an end in London next year, told the crowd “I’m going to duet with me” before welcoming Egerton to the stage to rapturous applause.

The pair, who struck up a close friendship during the makiing of Rocketman and both recently denounced the decision of Russian censors to cut LGBT-themed content from the film, shared a warm embrace at the performance’s end.
