Stuart Hatton has been awarded the Mr Gay UK title for a second year running.

The 28-year-old model and dance teacher, from South Shields, becomes the first winner ever to keep hold of the title.

The news follows Hatton’s victory at Mr Gay World in September. He beat Cyprus’s Kiriakos Spanos into second place at the global competition in Rome – read more here.

Announcing the news on Instagram, Hatton wrote: “I’m super excited to confirm that I have been awarded the title of ‘MR GAY UK’ for a second year running. Thank you to all the directors and producers at Mr Gay UK for allowing me to continue flying the flag for the United Kingdom.

“I will continue to promote awareness and equality issues throughout the country, and continue the work with our local charities and be the best LGBTI Ambassador I can not only as Mr Gay UK but on an international level as Mr Gay World.

“I’m gonna do my best for you all again. Thank you so much for your support, encouragement and continued belief in me. On a personal note, for me it’s kinda cool to be making history twice this year as the only Brit to win Mr Gay World and as the only person to be Mr Gay UK two years running.”
