Stevie McCrorie wins The Voice

The fourth series of The Voice UK had its finale last night with Stevie McCrorie being crowned the winner.
The singer follows in the footsteps of Leanne Mitchell, Andrea Begley and Jermain Jackman as former winners of the BBC1 talent show.
The firefighter from Scotland beat off Irish opera singer Lucy O’Byrne, who came runner up after performing an inspired version of Haberna from Carmen, complete with beats and rap from coach will.i.am. Sasha Simone and Emmanuel Nwamadi were also voted off halfway through the live final.
It’s the first time coach Ricky Wilson has claimed the winner, having picked McCrory for his team during the blind auditions.
This is the first year The Voice UK have released a winner’s single. McCrorie’s version of Adam Levine’s Lost Stars was released to buy at midnight after being performed by him and his runner up on the prime time BBC1 show.

McCrorie is already No.1 in the UK iTunes chart, and is expected to take the top spot on this evening’s BBC Radio 1 countdown as well.
The Voice UK will return for a fifth series in 2016.
