Amanda Seyfried has revealed she’s shocked by how popular Mean Girls remains ten years after it was released.

The actress starred as ditzy teenager Karen in the 2004 teen comedy film, alongside Lindsay Lohan, Tina Fey and Rachel McAdams.

Speaking about the cult classic during an appearance last night (May 23) on Jimmy Fallon’s US late-night chat show, Seyfried said:

“I check my retweets sometimes. It’s like getting a ‘like.’ I usually only get like 50-100, which is good, I guess. But when I tweeted, ‘On Wednesdays, we wear pink,’ I got like 18,000 retweets. How crazy is that?”

“Man, this has gone into history,” she then said of the film.

Actor Daniel Franzese, who played Damian in the film, came out as gay last month by writing an open letter to his character, thanking him for helping him with his decision. He also thanked the writer of Mean Girls, Tina Fey.

Fey recently quashed rumours that a sequel to Mean Girls is in the works, saying if any kind of reunion happens, it would be limited to “a panel discussion with a plate of hot wings”.
