‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ producers sue anonymous leaker over internet spoilers

World of Wonder Productions are suing the leaker for $300,000

RuPaul’s Drag Race leaker is being sued for $300,000.

Producers of the reality show sued an anonymous leaker on Thursday (February 15) to unmask the person behind RealityTVLeaks who posted spoilers, clips and images from unaired episodes on social media.

According to Queerty, the user began leaking spoilers shortly after the season three premiere of All Stars and operated on Instagram, Twitter and Reddit. The user shared costume reveals, challenges and names of eliminated contestants.

World of Wonder Productions issued takedown notices for copyright violation but the leaker set their Instagram account to private to avoid detection. Shortly after, Instagram suspended the account.

Producers have argued that the leaks cut into the value of the reality show by giving away the ending before it airs.

World of Wonder Productions is seeking $300,000 in damages from the defendant, $150,000 per infringed episode and $25,000 per violation of “actual damages suffered by World of Wonder” as well as RealityTVLeaks’ profits and World of Wonder’s attorney fees.”

The news comes after the premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 10 was announced to air just one week after All Stars finishes.
