RuPaul addresses backlash over ‘All Stars 3’ finale

The legendary queen has responded to fan complaints over the finale's divisive twist.

A week on from the finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 3 and it seems like the drama has just about settled down – and now RuPaul has offered his own thoughts on the controversy.

Fans were left fuming last week after a final twist saw the eliminated queens vote to see who would make the top two, leading to title-favourtie Shangela’s elimination from the competitions.

Now Ru, who became the first drag queen in history to be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last week, has addressed the backlash.

Asked about the uproar by James Corden on The Late Late Show, the ‘Kitty Girl’ singer insisted that all the contestants are winners for simply appearing on the reality show.

He said: “Well, every season a lot of people are not happy, and then every season most people are very happy. So, you know, these are some thirsty-ass queens who like to complain, and that’s okay!

“If you want to watch a re-run of Matt Lauer, be my guest. But y’know, we have a winner. The truth is, they’re all winners James. If they’re on the show, they are a winner.”

Corden, who discusses about his journey towards becoming an LGBT ally in our April Style issue, then asked Ru about what it takes to qualifying for a position on the Drag Race judging panel.

In response, RuPaul joked: “Well, you know, I love blue eyes. A nice round ass, a sense of humour, sandy blonde hair.”

Caressing Corden’s face, RuPaul added: “I love it all baby, I think you got the job!”
