Richard O’Brien slams Rocky Horror reboot because ‘it’s badly cast’

By Fabio Crispim

Richard O’Brien wrote the original Rocky Horror Picture Show musical, co-wrote the film adaptation and played Riff-Raff in both of them but he has now slammed the upcoming Rocky Horror reboot for being ‘badly cast’.

Since it’s announcement, the film, which premiers on Fox in October, has been met with tons of criticism.

Speaking to This Is Cabaret, O’Brien said, “I think that it is a project that is misconceived and (sadly for the players) badly cast.”

“The producer and director seem to have missed the point entirely.”

However O’Brien didn’t say anything else as he would be “tempted to say too much.”

Earlier this year Orange Is The New Black star Laverne Cox had to defend herself for taking on the role of Dr Frank-N-Furter in the reboot which is traditionally played by a cross-dressing man.

Adam Lambert, Tim Curry and Ivy Levan are also set to star alongside Cox in the reboot.

You can catch the remake this October and while you’re waiting, check out the trailer below:
