Phillip Schofield on how ‘kind’ Michelle Visage took care of him after he came out as gay

What a class act she is.

By Jamie Tabberer

Phillip Schofield has detailed how Michelle Visage looked out for him and took him for lunch after he came out as gay.

The This Morning star went public with his sexuality in an emotional Instagram post in February.

And it’s now emerged that RuPaul’s Drag Race star Michelle promptly reached out to him.

“The most amazing people messaged me”

Speaking on Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast, Phil said: “Before we all got locked down, I had lunch with Michelle Visage. She’s one of those really kind, compassionate people, and I’ve known her on and off the telly, and she was one of those people that messaged me…

“The most amazing people messaged me.”

Recalling their interaction, the 58-year-old explained how Michelle said: “‘Right, I’m going to take you out for coffee, we’ve got to talk and I want to make sure you’re okay.’ That’s what a lot of people have said. ‘Are you OK, are you sure you’re OK?’

“We went out, and I said, ‘I feel like I’ve joined a club, but I don’t know whether I’ve got the right credentials. I don’t know. Can I put a rainbow after stuff that I’ve said?’

“And she said, ‘Of course you can!’ I said: ‘I don’t know what I can and can’t do.'”
