Nicholas Galitzine tells Attitude his Red, White & Royal Blue co-star Taylor Zakhar Perez gave him fitness tips as he underwent his He-Man body transformation for Masters of the Universe.
The live-action comic book film is slated for a UK release on 5 June 2026, where viewers will see Galitzine in a whole new light… and very little clothing.
Written by British writer Chris Butler and directed by Travis Knight, Masters of the Universe explores the origin story of Prince Adam (Galitzine).
“To do what we wanted to do, it was no time at all” – Nicholas Galitzine on his five-month He-Man body transformation
The sci-fi fantasy film follows Adam, who was separated from his magical Power Sword on Earth as a boy, as he returns to Eternia to battle Skeletor (Jared Leto), who is ruling his home.
Galitzine’s magical, olive-skinned, ab-bearing transformation is not just CGI; as he tells Attitude, it took a whole team to help him get into shape for the role, and a little advice from his friend Perez.
“We had five months and I think to the average person that seems like a lot of time, but really to do what we wanted to do, it was no time at all,” he says at the Leicester Square premiere.
“It was way, way, way too much food” – Galitzine on preparing for his role in Masters of the Universe
“It was a massive undertaking,” Galitzine admits. “It was way, way, way too much food and then way, way, way too little food. I can’t really decide which one was more difficult.”
He says he had to trust and put faith in all the team hired to help him undergo the physical transformation, and he’s thankful that he did.
Perez previously told Esquire that working out had become a shared interest between the two, adding he gave Galitzine some tips ahead of his role as He-Man.
“Taylor is a very in-shape guy” – Galitzine says Taylor Zakhar Perez offered him work out advice for his He-Man body transformation
“Taylor is a very in-shape guy,” says Galitzine. “I don’t know if he’s ever done this kind of body transformation before, so he shared a few tips with me and the rest I just trusted my loyal companions.”
The pair have recently finished filming together for Red, White & Royal Wedding (the sequel to Red, White & Royal Blue) in March 2026. Galitzine says that despite trying to lose some of the muscle for other roles, he maintained some of his muscular build.
“Taylor was very complimentary, bless him.”
The live-action Masters of the Universe film is scheduled to release in UK cinemas on 3 June, 2026.
