A sequel to hit mobile game RuPaul’s Drag Race: Dragopolis has been announced.

The original game featured the voices of popular Drag Race contestants Pandora Boxx, Manila Luzon and Yara Sofia, and challenged players to take on evil drag queen Apocalypstyk, who had broken into the workroom on day one of RuPaul’s Drag Race in order to sabotage the show and kidnap the pit crew.

In the forthcoming sequel, evil drag queen Apocalypstyck has returned to steal gowns, wigs and accessories from RuPaul’s museum. Players have to help RuPaul get the items back by completing a series of puzzles spread over 45 levels.

Pandora Boxx, Manila Luzon and Yara Sofia will all be back for the new game, joined by seven more Drag Race favourites: Alaska, Jinkx Monsoon, Jujubee, Ongina, Shangela, Sharon Needles and Raven.

Explaining how the original game came to life, Jeff Meador, founder of makers So Much Drama Studios, told Polygon: “Queens are such fun and they’re such characters — it was a great opportunity to bring something like that that has such joy and passion to it, to bring it to life within a video game where we could really take it and make it very cartoony and over the top in a lot of different ways.”

He continued: “We never pulled back on anything. It was always more glitter, more sparkle, more beads. We put it all in there to really create something that’s celebratory of the LGBT community and the drag community as well.”

The new game is currently in the testing stages, with a release date expected to be announced soon.

Meanwhile, it was confirmed recently that the latest season of Drag Race will soon be available on Netflix in the UK – click here to find out when.
