New erotic thriller ‘The Breeding’ stars real-life murder suspect Marcus Bellamy

A new erotic gay thriller The Breeding stars a real-life murder suspect.

Broadway dancer and star of Smash Marcus Bellamy stars in the new thriller by Daniel Armando and the film won the 2018 Best Feature Award at the Harlem Film Festival.

However, the actor – who stars as young artist Thomas who meets a white man named Lee at a gallery and they engage in a racially-charged love affair – was arrested in 2016 after allededly beating and strangling his boyfriend Bernardo Almonte.

Bellamy reportedly confessed to the murder in a cryptic Facebook post which is still on the website.

But instead of shelving the production or focusing on the murder – which happened after the shoot finished shooting – the film is looking to promote its write Dane Harrington and director Almonte.

In a press release, it reads: “Director Armando and writer-producer [Dane] Joseph have crafted a compelling thriller about obsession and race relations that feels both fresh and exciting.”

Executive producer Joseph added: “The Breeding pushes the envelope in how we think of sex and culture in the LGBTQ community.

“And it’s amazing to have an awesome partner in Breaking Glass Pictures who supports our company’s mission to explore controversial and risqué stories.”

The film opens in select cinemas across the US in September.
