Netflix’s ‘Styling Hollywood’ will be the first reality series to revolve around a gay black male couple
A new series starring celeb Jason Bolden and husband Adair Curtis will land on Netflix next month.

A new Netflix offering is breaking new (and long overdue) ground as the as the first reality TV series to centre around a gay black couple.
Set to premiere on Tuesday 30 August, Styling Hollywood will follow stylist to the stars Jason Bolden and his husband Adair Curtis, an interior designer, as the pair deal with married life and running their lifestyle company JSN Studio.
Bolden, who has worked with stars including Serena Williams, Alicia Keys and Empire’s Taraja P. Henson, was listed on The Hollywood Reporter’s Top 25 Most Powerful Stylists in Hollywood in 2019.
Announcing the arrival of Styling Hollywood on Instagram, Bolden wrote: “Fashion & Design Are My LIFE!!! I’m So Pumped I get to share with You All Adair & I’s New Show @stylinghollywood.”
In his own post, husband Adair added: “Super excited to FINALLY share our new show coming out on @netflix! We’re giving you an intimate look inside our lives as business partners and as a couple”.
As an out and proud married couple, Bolden and Curtis’s headline slot in Stlying Hollywood marks a notable milestone for the representation of black LGBTQ people on reality television, where historically individuals have been relegated to supporting roles, if included at all.
In 2016, VH1’s Love & Hip-Hop cast gay rapper Milan Christoper and partner Miles Brock as the franchise’s first same-sex couple, while Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta introduced its first transgender housewife, model Amiyah Scott, for a short-lived appearance in 2015.
2015 also saw the debut of Oxygen’s The Prancing Elites Project, which followed a queer and gender non-conforming dance troupe in conservative Alabama and ran for two seasons.
Styling Hollywood will hit Netflix on Tuesday 30 August.
