Neil Patrick Harris and partner David Burtka get married

Neil Patrick Harris and his longtime partner David Burtka have got married.
The Emmy and Tony-winning actor shared the happy news with his Twitter followers earlier this afternoon (September 8) – see his tweet below.

A representative for the couple has since told People: “We happily confirm that Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka were married in Italy in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their close friends and family.”
The couple’s wedding ceremony was officiated by Pam Fryman, the director of Harris’s hit US sitcom How I Met Your Mother, and the reception featured a special performance from Sir Elton John.
Harris, 41, and Burtka, a 39-year-old actor and chef, have been in a relationship for around ten years. In 2010 they became fathers to Gideon and Harper, twins born to a surrogate mother. The family lives in Harlem, New York.
