Do Revenge, the latest teen drama offering from Netflix puts a queer and dark spin on the revenge drama.

Helming the film is Maya Hawke of Stranger Things fame and Riverdale actress Camila Mendes.

The pair star as Eleanor and Drea respectively, two private school students who meet in the trailer after the latter’s boyfriend leaks her sex tape.

Eleanor’s ex (Ava Capri) shares a nasty rumour about her so the new friends unite to rebuild their reputations in Jennifer Kaytin Robinson’s pastel aesthetic film underlined with a gritty revenge plot.

If the trailer is anything to go by, Do Revenge looks like a Gen Z mix of Heathers and Mean Girls

The cast is rounded off with Rish Shah, Talia Ryder, Jonathan Daviss, Maia Reficco, Paris Berelc, Alisha Boe and Sophie Turner.

The Netflix synopsis reads: “After a clandestine run-in, Drea (Alpha, fallen it girl played by Camila Mendes) and Eleanor (beta, new alt girl played by Maya Hawke) team up to go after each other’s tormentors.”

It continues: “Do Revenge is a subverted Hitchcock-ian dark comedy featuring the scariest protagonists of all: teenage girls.”

With a trailer including smeared lipstick, car crashes and chaotic parties, the teen drama is getting a makeover in Do Revenge.

Fans are clearly excited, one tweeting: “MAYA HAWKE CAN DO REVENGE ON ME TOO IDC RUIN MY LIFE !!!”

Another stating that: “the costuming department for do revenge ate and left no crumbs”

“MAYA HAWKE KISSING WOMEN IN “DO REVENGE” I REPEAT MAYA HAWKE KISSING WOMEN” another fan scream types.

Do Revenge is due on Netflix 16 September.
