Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes Leon, has referenced Lady Gaga in her debut single ‘Lock&Key’, released under the artist name Lolahol.

Following in her mother’s footsteps but carving her own path, Leon’s club track released with an accompanying music video on Wednesday (24 August), is an instantly catchy bop that includes a nod to Gaga’s iconic and famous ‘no sleep’ meme.

The 25-year-old’s track references the Born This Way singer’s 2011 interview where she listed off: “No sleep, bus, club, ‘nother club, ‘nother club, plane, next place, no sleep, no fear.”

Leon alters the exact wording but the reference remains clear as she sings on the track: “No sleep, next plane, no sleep, make up, next club, next car, next plane, no sleep, no fear.”

Between wandering around a graveyard and hanging out of a car’s window, the music video, directed and produced by Eartheater, concludes with Leon rolling in ocean waves with an oversized heart-shaped locket.

Leon’s decision to reference Gaga in her single suggests the feud in Madonna and Gaga’s history is officially over; Madonna accused Gaga of stealing from her 1989 single Express Yourself for her hit Born This Way.

At the time, Madonna called Gaga’s track a “reductive” take on her own song.

However, any beef seems to be left in the past as the pair posed together at the Academy Awards after Gaga picked up her Oscar for her track on the soundtrack for A Star Is Born.

This is Leon’s debut single although she has appeared on her mother’s 2012 song Superstar from the MDNA album.

The Attitude September/October issue is out now.
