‘Love, Simon’ series pulled from Disney Plus because it’s not ‘family friendly’
The 10-episode series will now air on Hulu.

The Love, Simon TV series has been pulled from Disney Plus, reportedly because it’s not ‘family-friendly’.
Following on from the success of Greg Berlanti’s hit movie – which starred Nick Robinson as the titular character struggling with his sexuality – Disney announced that they will be creating a sequel series based around the Love, Simon world.
Previous reports said the upcoming series is being produced for the corporation’s new streaming service Disney+ and will be adapted from Becky Albetalli’s 2018 novel ‘Leah on the Offbeat’, the sequel to 2015’s ‘Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda’ upon which Love, Simon is based.
But now, Variety report that Disney will no longer stream the new TV series on their site and sources say that Disney felt many ‘issues explored on the show, including alcohol use and sexual exploration, would not fit in with the family-friendly content on Disney Plus’.
Instead, the 10-episode first season will debut on Hulu in June, which is Pride Month.
US actor Michael Cimino has been cast as series lead Victor, who’s described as a ‘new student at Creekwood High School on his own journey of self-discovery, facing challenges at home, adjusting to a new city, and struggling with his sexual orientation’.
Victor will reportedly reach out to Simon for advice on how to get through high school life with his secret.
Ugly Betty star Ana Ortiz and James Martinez will star as Victor’s mother and father, Isabel and Armando, and Robinson will produce and narrate the series.
George Sear has also been cast as the ‘super-cute hipster’ Benji who catches the eye of Victor.
