Little Mix confirm track from new album is for LGBT+ community

By Shaun Kitchener

Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall has agreed with fan speculation that a track from their new album Get Weird is an anthem for the LGBT+ community.

Secret Love Song, Pt II is a bonus track on the Deluxe Edition of the new record, a piano-only re-interpretation of a much bigger ballad – Pt I, if you will – featuring Jason Derulo. That ‘main’ version is thought to be their next single.

Lyrics include: “You and I both have to hide on the outside, where I can’t be yours and you can’t be mine”, with a soaring chorus that asks: “Why can’t I hold you in the street? Why can’t I kiss you on the dance floor? I wish that it could be like that, why can’t it be like that? Cause I’m yours.”

One fan wrote to the group on Twitter saying: “I don’t think @littlemix realise they’ve written an LGBT anthem with Secret Love Song, Pt II.”

Jade replied: “I’m so happy you’ve said this… this is how I picture it and how we saw the music video in our heads.”

Get Weird, the girls’ third album, was released yesterday (November 6) worldwide.
