After serving swagger and salsa on ‘Medellín’, Madonna is taking things down a notch for the ambient second single from Madame X, ‘Crave’.

The sultry new track, which was released on Friday morning (10 May), sees Madonna team up with American hip-hop star Swae Lee for a chilled slice of R&B-pop about desire and longing.

One of the first tracks written during the Madame X sessions, ‘Crave’ puts a captivating R&B twist on the folk-tronica sound that’s defined much of the second-half of Madonna’s career.

It comes just days after her $5million performance at the Billboard Music Awards, where the Queen of Pop reminded the children she still knows how to break new ground as she performed with not one but four eerily realistic holograms of herself.

Along with ‘Medellín’ and empowering ballad ‘I Rise’ – written to mark 50 years since the Stonewall riots which heralded the start of the modern gay rights movement – ‘Crave’ is one of five track set to be unveiled before Madonna’s 14th studio album Madame X drops in full on June 14.

On the strength of what we’ve heard so far, it’s gonna be one worth getting excited about…
