Lil Nas X’s unapologetic ode to sex and lust has been nominated for three Grammys, while the artist overall has scored five nominations at music’s most prestigious awards show.

‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’ became a monster hit earlier this year ahead of the rapper’s debut album, Montero, and has been nominated for Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Music Video.

The lyrics and video see the 22-year-old refuse to shy away from his queerness and sexuality as he sings “I’m not fazed, only here to sin” and give Satan a lapdance.

“Love u guys”

The ‘Industry Baby’ rapper has also been nominated forBbest Album for Montero and Best Melodic Rap performance for the prison set hit with Jack Harlow.

In 2020, he won Grammys for best music video and best pop duo/group performance for his chart-topper ‘Old Town Road (Remix)’

Celebrating the nominations on social media Lil Nas X said: “[I] don’t have to win a single award, truly thankful for all the insight this year has brought me. and thankful for the journey. love u [sic] guys,” accompanied by a crying emoji.

One fan summed up how many are feeling when they commented: “thanks for being yourself. And inspiring so many queer people to do the same with your music.”

Elsewhere, former Attitude cover star Arlo Parks, 21, has been nominated in two categories – new artist and alternative music album. She previously won best new artist at the 2021 BRIT Awards.

Writing on Instagram the singer said she had “no words for this feeling,” revealing she was “bulldozed by 10000 ton wave” when she was told the news. She thanked everyone who has supported her along the way.
