Leona Lewis gives Grindr users a discount on her new album

By Will Stroude

Well peeps, this is it. 2015 will forever be remembered as the year when hook-up apps and pop music inexplicably collided – and while Hilary Duff might have called dibs on Tinder, this afternoon brought with it the news that Leona Lewis has the gays of Grindr.

The former X Factor champ and Bleeding Love singer has  seemingly given the app her seal of approval, and is rewarding its users accordingly by letting them download her brand new album I Am for the “special Grindr price” of just $3.99 – compared to the full $9.99 for the non-Grindring members of the public.

I Am is Leona’s fifth studio album, and first to be released with Island Records since she parted ways with Simon’s Cowell’s label in June last year. Given the deal on offer, Grinder users will soon be able to soundtrack the various stages of those late night dalliances with appropriately-titled tracks such I Got You, Power, The Essence of Me, and of course Thank You.

The fan reaction can only be described as ‘mixed’.

Future of pop? Frankly we’re just surprised that Gaga hasn’t beaten Hackney’s finest to this particular trick…
