Disney’s new animated fantasy Onward will feature the first openly LGBTQ character.

The new film – which features the voices of the likes of Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, Ali Wong, Octavia Spencer and Lena Waithe – is set to hit cinemas next month.

And according to Fox News, Waithe – who is best known for starring in Masters of None – will be lending her voice to Disney Pixar’s first ever openly LGBTQ character in an animated film.

The film follows brothers Ian and Barley Lightfoot (Holland and Pratt) who have 24 hours to reconnect with their father who died many years earlier before Ian was even born.

Things don’t go to plan and the brothers have to venture through a fantasy universe full of magic wands, spells, dragons and unicorns.
