Jonathan Bennett says there’s nothing worse than ‘mean gays’

Jonathan Bennett said there’s nothing worse than “mean gays”.
The Mean Girls star came out last year and revealed he is in a relationship with Jaymes Vaughan and, during an interview with Out Magazine, the actor – and now cookbook author – said that the gay community is “so quick to rip each other apart”.
He said: “I think there’s nothing worse than mean gays. I think mean gays are worse than mean girls.
“Because there’s so much hate in the world, the last thing minorities need to do is divide themselves further.
“And I think if there’s something Mean Girls taught us, it’s like when Tina Fey says, ‘You’ve got to stop calling each other sluts and whores. It just makes it ok for guys to call you sluts and whores’.
“That’s the thing. The gay community is so quick to rip each other apart when that doesn’t help anything. It’s just making it worse.”
The actor also added how he would be up for reprising his role as Aaron Samuels in a potential sequel to hit comedy – which also starred Lindsey Lohan and Amanda Seyfried – but said it’s up to Fey to decide.
He added: “That’s all up to Tina Fey. I know a lot of us would do one, but I don’t know what her take is on it.”
The film was a huge success and is still quoted daily today and spawned a Broadway musical and a straight-to-DVD sequel – which Bennett has never seen.
He laughed: “No, I never saw it. Because it was like, ‘Good try’.”
