Janet Jackson gives birth to her first child

By Samuel McManus

Janet Jackson has given birth to her first child.

The 50-year-old pop icon welcomed a baby boy named Eissa Al Mana with her husband Wissam Al Mana yesterday (3 January), her spokesperson confirmed to People.

“Janet Jackson and husband Wissam Al Mana are thrilled to welcome their new son Eissa Al Mana into the world,” a representative said in a statement.

The happy news comes nine months after Jackson postponed the UK dates of the ‘Unbreakable World Tour’ in order to start a family, having already delayed the shows by several months in order to undergo surgery in January 2016.

“I’m gonna have to delay the tour,” she told fans at the time. “Please, if you can, try and understand that it’s important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor’s orders, but I have not forgotten about you. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can.”

Jackson’s most recent album, 2015’s Unbreakable, propelled the ‘Control’ singer into the history books after becoming her seventh chart-topping LP and simultaneously making her one of just three acts to score a Number One album in each of the past four decades.

Hopefully we’ll be seeing Mama Jackson back on UK shores very soon.
