Grace Jones joins Laura Mvula to headline London’s Afropunk festival this weekend

By Will Stroude

Grace Jones is set to headline Afropunk festival in London this weekend.

The international icon joins the likes of Laura Mvula, MNEK, Lady Leshurr and Kwabs on a stellar line-up for the 13th annual festival at Alexandra Palace tomorrow (September 24).

With a message of ‘Power to the party’, Afropunk promises a day of no only music but education, political awareness and self-empowerment. Their key ethos is respect, breaking down stereotypes and celebrating individuality.

For over 13 years, Afropunk has been defining culture in the music world; a triumph of black music and art, multiculturalism and diversity for people of all races, genders, sexual identities, creeds and tastes –  expect a ‘safe space/no hate’ zone for creativity!

Organiser have promised that tomorrow’s festival in London will be a day of “positive energy” and “next level entertainment”, with fantastic music, on-site arts, stalls, thrift markets, delicious food and more.

There are discounted tickets available for the festival too. Grab them here.
