Gillian Taylforth’s judging role at the upcoming G-A-Y Porn Idol competition reportedly landed the London club the threat of legal action by the BBC.

The actress, who reprised her role as Kathy Beale in a shock twist during the soap’s recent live episode, has been lined up to judge the show, held at Heaven nightclub.

Posters for the event featured the strapline: ‘Kathy Beale is not dead, she’s judging GAY Porn Idol’.

Organiser Jeremy Joseph told The Mirror that legal action had been threatened: “We’ve taken Kathy Beale off the ad. The first we heard they had a problem with it was today.

“It was just a joke. It was such a shock when she came back. It was such an amazing secret. We booked her based on that.”

An alleged insider told the newspaper: “Show bosses are a bit upset with G-A-Y using the line about Kathy Beale being back from the dead. She hasn’t even started back on set and she is already causing embarrassment. You’d have thought she would keep her nose clean.”

However, an EastEnders spokesperson confirmed Taylforth is not yet under contract so was “free to undertake any personal appearances”.

The actress’s partner Dave Fairbairn explained that Gillian was not “happy about it” because she was still “in talks” with the club.

“If there’s porn, Gill won’t have anything to do with that,” he said. “It’s naughty using Kathy Beale. It’s not Kathy Beale, it’s Gillian Taylforth.”

Writing on social media, Joseph joked: “The New Season Of G-A-Y Porn Idol hasn’t even started yet & already causing controversy.”
