Gay teen rom-com ‘Alex Strangelove’ is coming to Netflix

'Love, Simon's natural successor is on its way.

By Will Stroude

If you enjoyed Love, Simon and need another fix of gay teen movie goodness, Netflix might just have the thing for you.

Gay high school rom-com Alex Strangelove has been picked up by the streaming service ahead of its premiere at the San Francisco Film Feastival this week, with an expected release planned for this summer.

The feel-good film follows high school senior Alex Truelove (Daniel Doheny) as he prepres to lose his virginity to his girlfriend Claire (Beach Rats‘ Madeline Weinstein). However, things soon get complicated when he meets a handsome and charming gay kid from the other side of town…

You see where this is headed, right?

Produced by Ben Stiller, Alex Strangelove has been descrbied as “a fun, funny, and flirty film located down the street from Pretty in Pink, around the corner from Superbad, and right next door to new neighbor Love, Simon.”

Pretty well-situated, we’d say. Bring it on.

Alex Strangelove is expected to begin streaming on Netflix from 8 June.
