Gay Big Brother contestant calls other gay housemates ‘bum boys’ during huge bust-up

By Fabio Crispim

Somewhat predictably, it’s all kicked off in Big Brother.

A fight erupted between several housemates last night (June 30) over alcohol, which culminated in gay housemate Sam labelling fellow housemates Ryan and Hughie – also gay – “bum boys”.

Pay attention, because there’s a lot going on here and frankly we’re still a bit confused ourselves.

During last night’s episode, Sam Giffen, Chelsea Singh and Alex Cannon annoyed the other housemates when they decided to mix the alcoholic drinks Big Brother had provided for them into one bowl.

Ryan Ruckledge and Hughie Maughan then accused Sam and Alex of trying to “bait them” into an argument.

Hughie, who chose not to partake in the ‘fish bowl’, argued with Sam for making a “trivial matter” into an issue, before turning on Alex.

Hughie got in Alex’s face and said, “Don’t ask me to not say anything when I was f*cking defending myself.”

Hughie was then ordered to the Diary Room and Jason and Evelyn escort him.

But once he got to the Diary Room he said: “They’re telling bullsh*t lies.”

As Hughie spoke in the Diary Room, Sam was crying said, “Everyone’s shouting in my face! I’ve done nothing wrong!”

Lateysha tried to comfort Sam and calm him down. However, Sam wasn’t having any of it as he said he wouldn’t be persecuted by “bum boys” – a reference to Hughie and Ryan, who’ve been involved in something of an on-off relationship during their time in the house.

Many fans took to Twitter to vent their frustration – and confusion – at Sam’s use of an anti-gay slur when he himself is gay.

Big Brother’s official Twitter account also tweeted, writing that they “have no idea” what Hughie’s story is about.

Big Brother confirmed in a statement  last month that it does not condone any racist or homophobic behaviour in the house.

A spokesperson said, “Big Brother does not condone any kind of racist or homophobic behaviour in the House. If offensive comments of that sort are made in the House, Big Brother will deal with them appropriately and in accordance with its long-standing protocols.”

Will Sam face eviction?

We’ll have to see.
