Fox is considering a ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ revival: ‘We talk about it frequently’

Will we be seeing the Scooby Gang back on our television screens again?

Fox bosses have revealed they’re considering a Buffy The Vampire Slayer revival.

The production studio behind the teen supernatural drama starring Sarah Michelle Geller have revealed they’re looking at reviving the television series, which recently celebrated its 21st birthday.

Speaking at the INTV Conference in Jerusalem today (March 13), Fox chairman and CEO Gary Newman stated that Buffy is the “most ripe” show they have for bringing back, Variety reports.

He said: “It’s something we talk about frequently, and Joss Whedon is really one of the greatest creators we ever worked with. When Joss decides it’s time, we’ll do it. And until Joss decides it’s time, it won’t happen.”

The production company recently revived hit shows The X-Files, 24 and Prison Break, but Newman insisted that revivals aren’t “a focus” for the studio.

“Most times when we brought things back, it started with the creator coming into us and saying I’ve got another story I want to tell. It seems to me that if there isn’t a real sense of nostalgia, a passionate fan base demonstrating they still want it then I don’t really buy bringing these shows back.”

The news comes just two months after the CW announced their modern-day Charmed reboot, which was slammed by both fans and original star Holly-Marie Combs.
