First trailer for Wendy Williams: The Movie is the chaotic cinematic camp we needed

"How you doin'?!"

Today’s hot topic: Wendy Williams: The Movie.

Yup, the first trailer for Lifetime’s upcoming biopic about the inimitable talk show host has finally arrived – and however you feel about he lady herself, there’s no denying that this looks set to be 90 minutes of chaotically camp cinema.

Starring The Oval‘s Ciera Peyton, Wendy Williams: The Movie charts the rise of Williams from notorious radio ‘shock jock’ to talk show host to cultural phenomenon.

The film is executive-produced by Williams herself and the first trailer includes such historic moments as the time she fainted live on air during a 2017 episode of The Wendy Williams show while dressed as the Statue of Liberty.

Like we said: camp with a capital ‘C’.

Despite her enduring popularity with the LGBTQ community – and gay men in particular – the outspoken Williams has been forced to make more than one apology for her remarks about LGBTQ people over the years.

In 2014, she issued an apology for remarks she made about Cher’s transgender son Chaz Bono, while earlier this year she was criticised for telling gay men “to stop wearing our skirts and our heels”, in a comment many interpreted to be a dig at Pose star Billy Porter after the actor appeared in a tuxedo dress at the Acadmy Awards.

Wendy Williams: The Movie premieres on Saturday 30 January on Lifetime in the US. Check out the first trailer below:
