The first images of the upcoming Charmed reboot have been released.

It was announced at the beginning of this year that the hit 90s supernatural series was to be remade by Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin – who both worked together on the comedy drama Jane the Virgin.

According to reports, the remake will be set in 1976 and will focus on three Pruitt sisters, Macy (Madeleine Mantock), Mel (Melone Diaz) and Maggie (Sarah Jeffrey) in a college town who discover they are witches.

It is reported Mel will also be gay after her character bio reads she is a “strong-willed feminist” and will becoming angry and “defiantly unkempt” following the tragic death of their mother.

She is also confirmed to have a girlfriend, Detective Soo Jin.

Now the first images of the three main characters have been released and are seen inside the iconic attic of the original Halliwell sisters from the hit TV series.

It is not known whether the new reboot will not be connected to the popular female-lead series but it’s unlikely the mansion will bear the name Halliwell Manor.

The new plot reads: “After the tragic death of their mother, three sisters in a college town are stunned to discover they are witches.

“Soon this powerful threesome must stand together to fight the everyday and supernatural battles that all modern witches must face: from vanquishing powerful demons to toppling the patriarchy.”

The series also stars Rupert Evans (Harry), Ellen Tamaki (Nico), Ser’Darius Blain (Galvin) and Charlie Gillespie (Brian).

No release date has been announced as of yet.
