Ellen DeGeneres lookalike Dawn Lutrell ‘sought therapy’ after Ellen mocked her on TV
"Very, very bullying, very mean spirited".
Ellen DeGeneres impersonator Dawn Lutrell has said she was ‘heartbroken’ and turned to therapy after the TV host made fun of her on her talk show.
The lookalike was referring to a 2018 episode in which an audition video of Lutrell’s was featured by DeGeneres in an opening monologue.
“That’s a 10-year-old impression, she’s got to update it,” she said of one of Lutrell’s take on her saying “Kaka”.
“Then she tried to tell some jokes…” Ellen added, to giggles from the studio audience. She then denies she ever worked at TGI Fridays, a myth worked into one of Lutrell’s jokes.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Lutrell called the incident “very, very bullying, very mean spirited”, while disclosing that she sought therapy after feeling “heartbroken.”
Addressing Ellen’s fall from grace after staff complained of a toxic workplace mired in racism and sexual impropriety, Lutrell said: “I’ve always wanted Ellen to see what I’ve done and respect it. Now that’s gone? Show me the money! Show me the money. It has nothing to do with her anymore.”
Explaining she’s still open for bookings, Lutrell continued: “In my personal opinion [Ellen] is an icon in the gay community. She has been very, very generous and she’s done a lot of good things. If I show up tomorrow as Ellen, that’s the Ellen I bring.”
Attitude has approached a rep for Ellen DeGeneres for comment.
