Eastenders: A closer look at Ben Mitchell’s new love interest…

By Will Stroude

Eastenders viewers saw the first onscreen appearance of Paul Coker – grandson of Les and Pam – last night (June 1), and the series newcomer wasted no time getting it on with somehow-still-closeted Ben Mitchell after slipping his number into his pocket.

The show’s new gay character is played by TV newcomer Jonny Labey, who previously worked as a club rep before joining the BBC One soap.

Speaking to Digital Spy about his character’s relationship with series stalwart Ben, Labey said: “I thought that Paul fancies the harder, bigger, muscly tattooed guys, but Ben’s got this Mitchell persona with the stuff he does, the things he gets up to and the arguments he gets involved in. That all excites Paul.”

This all excites us too Jonny – and to celebrate your arrival to Walford, here’s a little look at what Ben (played by Harry Reid) has in store for himself…
