Eamonn Holmes says Prince’s flamboyancy was a ‘problem’ for male fans
Eamonn Holmes has come under fire for saying that Prince’s ‘flamboyancy’ was a problem for male fans.
The TV presenter was leading tributes to the legendary musician, who died yesterday at the age of 57, alongside wife Ruth Langsford on ITV This Morning today when he said that men find it hard to “relate” to the singer, The Daily Express reports.
“I think there was a problem with Prince,” Holmes said.
“He was more of a girls’ artist than a boys’ artist. We find it hard to relate to him because there’s that flamboyancy that you had with David Bowie as well.”
Meanwhile, US singer and rapper Frank Ocean has paid touching tribute to the star, crediting his flamboyant style and sexual ambiguity for helping him come to terms with his own sexuality.
Prince was found dead at his home after collapsing in a lift in Minnesota on Thursday morning (April 21). The official cause of death is as-yet unconfirmed.
The news comes just five days after the Purple Rain singer, born Prince Rogers Nelson, was rushed to hospital after reportedly suffering with the effects of flu for several weeks. He was released from hospital three hours after being admitted.
