‘Drag Race UK’, ‘Years and Years’ and Ncuti Gatwa all nominated for RTS Programme Awards

Drag Race UK, Years and Years and Sex Education’s Ncuti Gatwa have all been nominated for Royal Television Society Programme Awards 2020.
The list of nominees was announced today (March 3) by BBC journalist, writer and broadcaster Samira Ahmed at h Club in London’s vibrant Covent Garden.
And among those nominated are some of the best shows of the last 12 months.
Drag Race UK – which aired on BBC Three last October – has been nominated for the Entertainment category where it will go up against the likes of Love Island and Britain’s Got Talent.
The first season received critical acclaim as The Vivienne was crowned the first ever Drag Race UK winner. The series was swiftly renewed for a second season.
Russell T Davies’ latest, heartbreaking series Years and Years has landed a nomination for Mini-Series alongside Chernobyl and The Long Shot.
The series starred Emma Thompson, Russell Tovey, Anne Reid and Greg Kinnear. The series gave us one of the most heartbreaking moments and one of the most powerful monologues in TV history.
The hit Netflix series, Sex Education – which has been renewed for a third season – has landed two nominations for series creator Laurie Nunn and star of the show Ncuti Gatwa, who plays gay character Eric in the show.
Winners will be announced at the RTS Programme Awards Ceremony, in partnership with Audio Network, hosted by writer and comedian Paul Merton, on March 17.
